Food For Thought: What We Do IRL & What We Do Online...

Just finished watching Sword Art Online Extra Edition...

I'ld have to say that although its a semi recap hidden within a short story, there are still parts to it that is worth a penny.

And what stuck me the most was this moment where Kirito talks to Leafa about his opinion on acts done in virtual reality versus real life.

In my opinion, what was said sounds pretty true I guess...if you think about it.

Just because we're hiding behind a supposedly "anonymous" profile on the Internet or in a game, doesn't mean that we can do as we please, like for example griefing or cyber bullying...stealing or scamming. (Acts we would not normally perform in real life.)

In the end, with you being the person in control of your avatar, the evil acts you perform on the Internet or in a game will eventually start to corrode you and your morals.

You are one and the same...

Right?

Money Playing Tricks On The Mind?

Recently, I had the luck of stumbling upon this interesting video...

It roughly talks about some research studies showing that how being affluent would start playing tricks upon a person's mind and mentality.

In short, the person would somehow "gradually" change and begin to "order" people around, start to become more assertive, etc...almost to the point of thinking that "everything is rightfully theirs" (in the most extreme cases)?

BUT

The thing to bring home here about this video isn't to bring fault to any one person or group of persons...nor is it to cause an alienation between the "Rich" and the "Poor".

In fact, that was not my first and foremost thought when I was watching this vid.

Rather, the very thought that surfaced to my mind in that moment was to question myself...

"Was there ever a point in time when I acted like that?"

"Will there ever be a time when I would become like that?"

"Is there any way that I can prevent myself from ever becoming just like that?"

I believe, these are the more important concepts that we should keep within our minds...so that if one day, should we ever become more affluent, that we will have it in our hearts to not take everything for granted like its "ours".

To still treat others with the proper respect that they deserve...

And that we shall still remain "human", in a sense...

Weird Blogger Bug

Bad news...

For some reason unknown, ever since the new year started, I've not been able to upload and attach any images from my comp onto my blogger posts.

Somehow, using firefox, it just keeps asking me to sign in but then gives me an error afterwards (when I press the "Insert Image" button). When I tried using IE, it does surprisingly allow me to upload (one image at a time though), but when I hit the "add image"...it doesn't post the image code into my post so that doesn't work either.

So now stuck and desperate, I'm gonna try using chrome later on. But if that still does not work, then I'm out of options and will have to settle for hibernation (at least until this bug is fixed).
